TESTIMONIALS

"There was such valid, well-organized information in your very professional presentation. It was amazing! You made my teaching so much more meaningful by connecting students to real life examples of how to go forward and seek help."

Shannon Todd - Middle School Educator

"[They were] so brave to share [their] stories and want to help others."

"[Their] presentation was really professional. [They] knew so much and shared in a really kind way."

"I didn't know that anorexia could affect guys too."

"Could I see the resources that you have for help? I think I want to try to help a friend."

Students

"[The support] group has been helpful from the very first zoom call. I was very nervous initially, but all of the participants were so kind and I felt very welcomed. Every week I look forward to joining. It’s a chance for me to talk with people who understand what I am going through and meeting with them helps and motivates me to keep fighting."

Support Group Attendee

"I appreciated your focus on how eating disorders look different for every person. Your insights and personal experience with dispelling the myth that only people who "look like they have an eating disorder" according to our society's standards of what one would look like if they were struggling with an eating disorder was really impactful."

OUR STORY

Hi! We are Mary Seibt and Sage McCann, the founders of Healing Youth Project. Since January of 2021, we have been working to deliver eating disorder education and resources to adolescents in Oregon. We are currently high school seniors in the Portland area, and met in eating disorder treatment. We developed a passion for eating disorder awareness and fighting diet culture after receiving treatment for Anorexia Nervosa. Having developed eating disorders in middle school, we now reflect that there was a lack of resources and education, which contributed to our delayed treatment. This lack of community education encouraged us to start Healing Youth Project and educate and provide resources for youth.
